Fibroblasts in the dermis are responsible for producing collagen, which forms connective tissue. When these fibroblasts either age or are exposed to too much harmful oxidative stress, such as UV light and pollution, the skin ages rapidly. The old cells block the natural process of their elimination and, moreover, continue to secrete signaling molecules that promote inflammation and aging of the surrounding cells. In younger tissue, the immune system is the one that “cleans” the tissue of older cells, while in more mature skin, chronic inflammation exacerbates the process, promoting the breakdown of collagen fibers and loss of skin elasticity.

Decision

A new concept known as “senolytic” helps to “cleanse” the tissue of old cells, in order to reduce inflammation and rejuvenate the tissue. For the first time, the senolytic concept was applied in cosmetic action. Alpine Rose Active has been shown to act as a senolytic by reducing the number of old cells and not affecting the number of healthy cells.
