Why this workshop?

Winter is the most demanding season for the skin. Cold air, heating, dryness and constant temperature changes weaken the skin barrier, increase TEWL and promote irritation, redness and a feeling of tightness. If your skin is cracking, reacting to products, peeling more, or becoming sensitive in January, it’s a sign that your barrier needs help.

This online workshop is designed to answer these very challenges, and to teach you how to formulate gentle, safe, and effective barrier repair products . But also to alert you to what’s happening behind the scenes in the market…

What will you learn?

The workshop is led by Mirela Ilenić, formulator and educator with more than 25 years of experience in the development of cosmetic products. You will learn:

• how to recognize a weakened barrier
• what is TEWL and how to reduce it through formulation
• how to combine lipids, humectants and soothing ingredients
• What ingredients to avoid when skin is reactive?
• how to formulate minimal and hypoallergenic products
• how to build a routine for the winter period without irritations

All lessons are practical and applicable whether you are a beginner or an advanced formulator.

What do we make in the workshop?

We make four targeted formulations that are ideal for sensitive skin and the winter period:

1. Barrier Cream
   A light yet nourishing formula that restores lipids to the skin and reduces TEWL.
2. Hydra-Barrier Mist
   Hydrating essence in a spray for instant soothing and preparation of the skin.
3. Gentle Cleansing Gel
   Gentle cleansing gel without aggressive surfactants that do not disrupt the barrier.
4. Hydra Locking Shower Oil
   An oil that turns into milk and protects the barrier even in the shower.

You can make all the formulations at home, in your routine, or as part of professional work.
