Geogard Ultra™ is a unique, synergistic combination of gluconolactone and sodium benzoate, which has a very broad spectrum of effectiveness. Organic acids are too weak on their own and generally require an additional preservative to work optimally. In this combination, gluconolactone works with sodium benzoate as an effective non-GMO additive. Gluconolactone slowly releases gluconic acid, which contributes to preservation. Geogard Ultra™ has proven broad-spectrum activity, is approved by numerous global authorities (ECOCERT/COSMOS, NATRUE), and is specific in that it contributes to skin hydration. Research has shown that in the formulation it produced a moisturizing effect comparable to the use of 2% glycerin.
