Acticire® MB is a product texture regulator based on a complex of functional waxes that create a soft, smooth layer that protects the skin from dehydration and ensures a comfortable feeling throughout the day. Natural waxes have interesting cosmetic properties: they create a barrier against moisture loss, come from renewable sources and have an excellent safety profile. For example, jojoba wax creates soft and easily spreadable textures, mimosa wax has film-forming properties, and sunflower wax has excellent thermostability.
Vegetable waxes protect the skin, but they are themselves demanding in emulsion formulations and leave a rough feel on the skin. Acticire® MB in formulations produces smaller and more rounded crystals that create a very smooth layer on the skin that gives a soft touch. It is a patented technology of transesterification of solid and liquid waxes with polyglycerol. This raw material is perfectly stable in emulsions and presents new sensory advantages.
The naturally active component acts as a skin moisturizer in simple U/W emulsions, which has been proven by several measurement techniques. Furthermore, corneometric water level measurement has established that Acticire® MB provides protection against transepidermal water loss and a very high efficiency in the area of skin moisturizing, and micro-recovery of the skin as a result of increased moisture is also visible. Acticire® MB helps to eliminate a common problem encountered with formulations containing a high proportion of vegetable oils, which is the feeling of dryness after the preparation has been absorbed into the skin. When using this raw material, this problem does not occur because a very thin, pleasant protective layer is created on the skin, which provides a long-lasting feeling of comfort.
Acticire® MB can absorb a very large amount of water, up to 6x its weight, which creates a soufflé-like structure, elastic and very soft, and creams with 2% Acticire do not leave a sticky feeling on the skin.
This raw material is unique in many ways in cosmetics. It can be used in all types of emulsions and anhydrous systems (it does not create transparent preparations).
Acticire® MB plays an important role in improving compatibility with various types of oils, especially in W/O emulsions. Compatible with natural emulsifiers (PEG-free), including sugar esters, polyglycerol esters and anionic emulsifiers. It also helps to reduce the stickiness and greasy feel experienced by some lipophilic ingredients.
Acticire® MB is particularly interesting for its ability to disperse the aqueous phase in anhydrous formulations due to the presence of amphiphilic molecules based on polyglycerly-3 esters. It allows the introduction of hydrophilic components such as active ingredients in various textures (e.g. lipsticks or massage balms) which increases efficiency.
The 5% concentration in the balm formulation allows for up to 15% water phase and creates an innovative structure, similar to butter, but with a new, different experience on the skin. Unlike lanolin, the resulting structure is very stable at higher temperatures.
Acticire® MB in the lipstick formulation can be in a concentration of up to 5%, and then it can homogeneously disperse 2% of the water phase, which provides a uniform color without visible color drops, and improves stability, texture and application.
This raw material is also ideal in suntan preparations. It removes unwanted oil and makes application easier, and UV camera testing has proven that preparations containing it last on the skin for a long time.
