Caffeine is an alkaloid from the methylxanthine family. In its pure form, it consists of a white powder with a very bitter taste, moderately soluble in water and organic solvents. At high temperatures, the solubility of caffeine in water increases. Caffeine, present in the seeds, leaves and fruits of various plants, acts as a natural insecticide. It is especially present in the seeds of coffee and guarana, as well as in the leaves of yerba mate and tea.
EFFECTS : Generally speaking, caffeine is a stimulant and psychostimulant. It increases heart rate and vasodilation, creating refreshing and draining effects, especially suitable for products around the eyes. In addition, it acts on skeletal muscles, renal blood flow, glycogenolysis and lipolysis. The protective action of caffeine on the enzymatic degradation of cyclic AMP activates lipase in fat cells, thereby promoting lipolysis for a weight loss effect.
