Candelilla Wax / Wax

Candelilla wax is obtained from the leaves of a shrub native to northern Mexico, Euphorbia cerifera. It is very rich in long-chain hydrocarbon compounds and high molecular weight wax esters. This composition makes it a very hard and brittle wax, with a fairly high melting point (70°C). These properties are highly valued for the production of cosmetic make-up products, especially for lipsticks, which make them easier to remove from the mold, and for mascaras, which make them easier to dry and last longer. This wax is also known for its excellent film-forming power, which makes it very interesting for protecting damaged lips.
