Unlike the usual West African shea butter, which is often hard and waxy, this raw, unrefined Shea Nilotica butter from Northern Uganda is creamier and softer, and has more beneficial properties than any other variety of shea butter. Because of these properties, it is considered a more luxurious alternative to West African shea. It melts and spreads beautifully on the skin, making it a wonderful all-purpose product for the whole family, including young children.

Cocoa butter melts at human body temperature, making it ideal for making body and massage butters, lip balms, and skin creams. Because of this property, it has long been used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce pessaries and suppositories, which are solid at room temperature and melt after application to release the medicinal substances. Today, it is less commonly used for this purpose, having been overtaken by newer, synthetic excipients. The composition of fatty acids includes saturated stearic and palmitic acids, and unsaturated oleic acid and sterols. It is extremely stable. It creates a protective film on the skin, making it smooth and preventing it from drying out. It is used in sun creams and oils because of this film-forming property, which prevents the pigments from drying out and washing out. Cocoa butter itself is also quite waterproof. As a butter, it is also used to make soaps because it gives them strength.

It perfectly protects the skin from drying out, nourishes it and creates a protective film. It is suitable for the care of all skin types, especially dry and mature skin. It is used to treat sunburn, diaper rash, dermatitis, scars, wrinkles and stretch marks. In the cosmetic industry, it is most often used in lip and hand care products. It contains a large amount of so-called unsaponifiable substances (active substances dissolved in triglycerides), which are mostly composed of cinnamic acid esters. They are found in over 4% in cold-pressed and unrefined butter. These compounds absorb UV rays, so it is one of the basic ingredients of sun protection cosmetics, along with Chilean raspberry and Chilean hazelnut. The color varies from pale, light yellow to yellow and beige. The texture can be creamy or more granular. At room temperature, two phases can be separated - a solid and a liquid phase. For a creamy consistency, you need to warm the shea butter slightly and mix well.
