Cold-pressed tamanu oil, also known as “green gold,” is extracted from the seeds of a tropical tree that grows on the South Pacific islands (Polynesia), but is also found in Southeast Asia, India, and parts of Africa and Australia. Tamanu oil has been used for centuries to soothe the skin and fight various skin infections, even diaper rash and other skin problems in babies. Research has shown that tamanu oil contains calophyllolide and delta-tocotrienol, an anti-inflammatory component and form of vitamin E, as well as a number of antioxidants.
