Sorbitol

Description

Recommended concentration: 5-50%

A natural polyhydric alcohol obtained from a solution of sugar (dextrose) from wheat (gluten-free), consisting of the alcohols D-glucitol and D-mannitol.

Advantages

• Effective moisturizing properties (prevents moisture loss)
• Stabilizes gels and provides good transparency
• Has skin softening and conditioning effects
• Can support the thickening effects of viscosity enhancers
• Slightly resistant to acids and alkalis
• Stable at temperatures up to 180°C

Using

Can be added to all formulas containing an aqueous phase

Application

Creams, lotions, gels, pastes (e.g. toothpaste), barrier creams, ointments, makeup and sun and personal care products.
