Glutamic acid is a natural amino acid that plays an important role in the biological processes of the skin and in maintaining its hydration. In cosmetic formulations, it is used as a humectant, conditioning ingredient and pH regulator. One of its particularly interesting characteristics is its association with the skin's natural moisturizing factor (NMF), a system of substances that participate in binding and retaining water within the stratum corneum of the epidermis.

Unlike ingredients that provide hydration primarily by creating a surface film, glutamic acid belongs to a group of small, hydrophilic molecules that can participate in maintaining the skin's moisture balance. Thanks to its mildness, it is suitable for the development of various skin care products, including formulations intended for sensitive and dry skin.

Raw material description

Vitamin F is an active cosmetic ingredient rich in essential polyunsaturated fatty acids, specially developed to restore the skin's protective barrier, provide intensive care and reduce the feeling of dryness. Although traditionally called vitamin F, it is actually a complex of essential fatty acids that play a key role in maintaining a healthy epidermis structure.

The special feature of this raw material lies in the esterified form of fatty acids , which provides better stability against oxidation compared to free fatty acids. Essential fatty acids are an integral part of cell membranes and participate in the formation of epidermal lipids, including ceramides, which are extremely important for maintaining the skin barrier. Their deficiency can lead to impaired skin barrier function, increased transepidermal water loss (TEWL), dryness, flaking and reduced elasticity.

Vitamin F is therefore particularly interesting in formulations intended for dry, sensitive, dehydrated and lipid-depleted skin .
