  • Stick (anhydrous): 0.5 – 1.5% + approx. 5% water

Zinc Ricinoleate is a raw material of natural origin, a highly effective odor absorber, based on the zinc salt of ricinoleic acid. Unlike classic deodorant actives, it has no antimicrobial effect, which means that it does not disrupt the natural microflora of the skin or block the physiological process of sweating. It works by chemically binding odor molecules (short-chain fatty acids, amines and sulfur compounds), thus neutralizing them instead of masking them. It is suitable for a wide range of deodorant formulations; emulsions (roll-on, creams, sprays), as well as stick products.

Formulation insight

  • It is added to the oil phase and heated above 85°C for complete dissolution.
  • The sticks require a small amount of water (~5%) for activation
  • Avoid combination with Sodium Phytate (chelates zinc → loss of effectiveness)
