Cold-pressed kukui oil is obtained from the fruits of the Aleurites moluccanus tree, which is widespread in Polynesia. It is an oil that has an extremely soothing and protective effect and is quickly absorbed. Hawaiians use this oil to protect their skin from salt water, harsh sun and drying winds. Kukui oil easily penetrates the deepest layers of the skin, creates a protective barrier on the skin and prevents transepidermal water loss. It can be used to reduce burn scars and pregnancy hyperpigmentation (melasma). It is also known that kukui oil works at the cellular level to reduce redness and inflammation on the skin and helps in cases of eczema, psoriasis, dry and damaged skin, and stimulates collagen production and faster turnover of surface skin cells.
