Fisetin — a flavonoid with antiadipogenic and antioxidant effects

Fisetin is a natural flavonoid present in strawberries, apples, kiwi, tomatoes, and cucumbers.

Action of fisetin:

  • inhibition of the PI3K signaling pathway
  • reduction of lipogenesis
  • activation of lipolysis
  • activation of the SIRT1 signaling pathway
  • reduction of adipogenesis
  • mobilization of fatty acids.

Additionally shows:

Frambinone — stimulation of lipolysis and β-oxidation

Frambinone (raspberry ketone) is a natural phenolic compound characteristic of the raspberry aroma, and is also naturally associated with the anise plant ( Pimpinella anisum ).

Its activities include:

  • stimulation of lipolysis
  • increased β-oxidation of fatty acids
  • activation of lipid metabolism.

β-oxidation is the process of “burning” fatty acids within mitochondria to produce energy, thereby reducing their accumulation in tissue.

Additionally, topical use of frambinone has been associated with:

  • improving skin elasticity
  • improving skin tone.
  • smoothing the “orange peel” appearance.
